The author brilliantly delivers a story that blends greek mythological characters with the modern world! This was a real page turner and different from anything I've ever read! I was captivated with the first half of the book and the second half becomes even more complex, wonderfully bizarre and intriguing! I'm not going to share any details about the story because that would give it away. But let's just say that "nothing is what it seems"! Also, make sure to read the prologue carefully so you understand a little behind what is going on at the beginning. Very creative author! Great read!

Patrick Garner's control of the plot makes this book almost impossible to put down!
This book presents a tasty swirl of ancient meets contemporary with a sci-fi cherry on top. Excellent characterization, passion, seduction, and a page turning plot! Nothing less than magical! Two thumbs up!!! Loved it!

The author turns a jeweler’s eye on to the juxtaposition of reality and mythology, magic and science, love and seduction, human and divine wisdom , truth and deception, fate and serendipity; all powered by a compelling narrative and finely drawn characters. If there is truly ancient magic loose in our contemporary world, that some of it is certainly in these pages.
I am a sucker for a good fantasy book, especially when there is a strong female character. As a child, Greek Mythology was always compelling, and I was immediately attracted to the ideas presented in The Winnowing. The intersection of reality and fantasy can sometimes feel campy, but I can assure you that this book paints a picture of a totally believable world. After reading that the author is a poet and playwright, it seems clear that he is a master storyteller. The Winnowing was tough to put down, and I finished the book in just two days. The thick plot was not hard to follow at all, which can sometimes be the case in fantasy. I would highly recommend this book, and I can't wait to read the rest of the series!
This book is an absolute masterpiece! It is definitely nothing as to what I expected at all, it was so much better! The plot thickens with the turn of each page and the reader will hardly want to set this book down. Psychology, philosophy, mythological, and any major really would love this book! I would highly recommend this book to the mature young adult audience and older due to graphic content and sexually explicit scenarios. If you are a fan of Greek Mythology, this book will be your quick weekend read! Each character adds more to the depth of the book and one can’t help but fall in and out of love with each character. I personally love how the author’s language is fluid and easy to understand. The beginning of the book can certainly be a trigger for some who have encountered sexual trauma in their lives. The author is able to make this very important aspect of the story worthy of inclusion. Therefore, take caution prior to engaging in this book. The amount of wonder and mystery will keep you on the edge of your seat. I sure hope that there is a continuation of this story soon!
From the very beginning of The Winnowing, you are seduced by the story. Drawn in by the character building of Jack, Chloe and Laine. Unknown to Jack but he is the “stud” that helps reincarnate the Fates known in Greek Mythology as the three sisters Chloe,Laine and Aisa to the modern day. They want to stop the now day scientist from discovering a way to make life longer that would impact the lifespan and death cycle that the sisters create. Through many plot twist and unexpected turns this story was a page turner from beginning to end.
Along this amazing journey you get introduced to the Goddess Artemis and her nymphs, Gaia- Earth Mother Goddess and many other Greek Gods and Goddess.
Patrick Garner is a great storyteller. He weaves together a story of magic,Greek Mythology and science. As a reader you will love the strong female cast and the love story that is filled with truth and deception. One of my absolutely favorite parts of this story is the love connection Jack has with his ladies. That throw everything to the wind and just deeply love someone or in Jack’s case many someones. And in the end that pure raw emotion is what saves him. I was very pleased with this book.
Nabokov meets Aristotle I was never particularly interested in Greek Mythology but now that I've read the beautifully crafted, "The Winnowing" I want more. Be warned, you will not be able to put this exotic, erotic roller coaster down. Pure pleasure!
