The author brings back the brother in this one and I totally didn't see this end coming. Chrissy's inner dialogue goes crazy at times in this one again which frankly gets to be over the top for me. She still isn't called Dr. even though she has a PhD and she and Rivera still haven't consummated their relationship which is getting to be a bit ridiculous considering they have known each other for 1.5 yrs at this point or so. Sorry, but that is pretty unrealistic in their age group so the author definitely needs to resolve this. U can't blame it on being Catholic, the brother has been married 4 times and has a pregnant live in at this point. The writing is still good and the cussing has been toned down a bit. Still, the author really makes u care about the characters (or want to twist their heads off their necks) and I think the conflicting cocktail waitress/educated licensed shrink is still pretty funny at this point. Lets face it, a lot of people get into psychology to figure out what is wrong with them or the people in their lives.

Enjoyed the series.
Love it!! The characters are developing in each book. Some of the story seems to be repeating and could become boring
but I am still enjoying this series.

I started reading this series because a woman during my commute was reading one of the books and laughing out loud.

This book, however, is definitely not up to par of the others. It is Chrissy and Rivera and their interactions that make these books work. The secondary characters are usually weak and, luckily, in the background. Except for here where Chrissy's brother Peter John, a clueless guy who thinks his looks will get him through, comes to stay with her while running away from trouble. Trouble finds Chrissy though; starting with a cute "carpenter" getting shot while trying to flirt and fix her garage. From there on it gets less believable, especially when she meets the consonant (not a typo) mob guy.

I could get past that if there was more Rivera or if he didn't all of a sudden change so dramatically.

Oh, well, I highly recommend Unplugged and Unscrewed. They were terrific.
this series is laugh out loud funny, has romantic tension between the female lead and the cop she's hot for and as usual she's in the middle of some intrigue which involves murder and danger to her personally. love this series.
Unmanned brings Chrissy together with her brother Pete who makes sibling rivalry understandable. Pete is shrewd, irresponsible and a bit of a chicken. He's also got the McMullen sense of humor which brings a lot of interest and intrigue to this book. I think this is one of her best!
I love the entire concept of this series! All the characters are interesting, the crimes unusual, and the conclusions satisfying. So far each book could be a stand along, but I recommend starting with the first one to fully appreciate the personalities and backgrounds of each of the recurring characters. Looking forward to the next one!
